The community at International School Eastern Seaboard came together to celebrate Songkran, the traditional Thai New Year and one of Thailand’s most meaningful cultural celebrations.
Students and teachers enjoyed a variety of cultural activities that introduced the traditions and significance of Songkran. The celebration included a beautiful Thai dance performance, a traditional water-pouring ceremony to show respect and gratitude, and hands-on activities that allowed students to experience Thai culture in a fun and engaging way.
Students also participated in traditional games and activities such as coconut bowling, sand pagoda building, ring toss, and tasting Thai desserts. These activities helped bring the spirit of Songkran to life while encouraging students to learn about the cultural values of respect, renewal, and community.
The celebration concluded with joyful water play, symbolizing purification and a fresh start for the new year. It was a meaningful opportunity for our international community to learn about and appreciate Thai traditions together.
Through events like this, ISE continues to celebrate cultural diversity while helping students build a deeper understanding of the country they call home.
